Association
The Railway Friends Association (SFS) is a recognized non-profit organization founded in 1983 and based in Athens, Greece. Our members come from a wide range of professional and social backgrounds, united by a shared passion for railways and other rail-based transport systems, including metro and tram networks.
We believe that rail transport plays a vital role in protecting the environment, improving quality of life, supporting sustainable economic development, and preserving the cultural and industrial heritage of our country.
The Association is governed by a five-member Board of Directors, elected annually by its members. Membership is open to anyone—Greek or international—who shares the Association’s aims and values as set out in its statutes.
Our headquarters are located within the Athens Railway Museum, in a building kindly provided by OSE (Hellenic Railways Organisation) at 301 Liosion Street. In addition to the Association’s offices and members’ lounge, the venue hosts exhibitions, lectures, presentations, concerts, screenings, and a variety of railway-related cultural events.
Members and friends are welcome to visit our clubhouse every Wednesday from 18:30 to 22:30, where railway enthusiasts gather to exchange ideas, share experiences, and celebrate the rich history and future of rail transport.
